We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our team!
The ideal candidate will share in our belief that a thoughtful and intentional design process is integral to the delivery of high-end design and wholistic, high functioning projects. Additionally, they will possess strong project‐management skills, with a proven track record of leading a variety of projects from conception through to completion. This role requires proficiency in architectural software and excellent communication skills. The Project Architect will play a key role in ensuring our projects meet client expectations regarding design quality, schedule, and budget.
Project Architect Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to the design, documentation, and construction administration of a variety of project types, all the while advocating for high-end design solutions and problem-solving.
Oversee and produce detailed, code-compliant, high-quality drawings and specifications that are graphically excellent and highly legible.
Listen to and document the client’s needs, desires, and goals starting at the preliminary design phase and seeing them through construction.
Coordinate and communicate directly with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout all project phases; always seeking to balance the client’s project needs with the individual expression of the architect and/or the project.
Manage day-to-day project activities, including schedules, deliverables, and team workflow, while also ensuring that client communication is handled in a timely manner.
Conduct zoning and code analysis to identify potential challenges and verify project/site feasibility.
Lead or support construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, performing site visits, and producing punch lists.
Provide technical leadership on detailing, systems integration, and constructability.
Help maintain office-wide standards for documentation, BIM/CAD workflows, and quality control.
Contribute to proposals, fee development, and project planning when needed.

Expected Knowledge Base & Skills:
Strong design and ideation skills. Candidate should have a flexible design process and should be proficient at exploring and making decisions to ensure that quality design is proposed and that the schedule is maintained.
Strong graphic and representational skills such as drawing, sketching, and modeling, both as a means of design and problem solving. Candidate should be proficient in representing constructability, materials, and code compliance in construction drawings.
Strong communication skills. Candidate should have proficient ability to discuss and present design ideas to team members and clients alike while being open to receiving and providing constructive feedback.
Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mentality. Candidate should be proficient in thinking through complex and often complicated design and construction challenges and should always seek to provide solutions.
Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and building code. Candidate should always be seeking to grow his/her understanding of an ever-evolving construction industry and the technical demands of modern construction.
Strong time management skills. Candidate should be proficient at managing project and personal schedules to ensure that project deadlines are met.
Working understanding of legal documentation, such as contracts, proposals, and construction documentation. Candidate should be aware of fee structure and agreed-upon scope of work.
Professional Qualifications and Software Proficiencies:
Licensed Architect or nearly licensed (have passed at least a portion of the required exams)
8-12+ years of experience in architectural practice, preferably in small to mid-sized firms.
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD; familiarity with Sketch Up, Lumion, Enscape or other visualization tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is preferred, but not required.
